“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
“Worship and worry cannot live in the same heart: they are mutually exclusive.” ~Ruth Bell Graham
“Prayzing”–a time to walk, pray and praise–is my favorite way to begin my day. In the early morning as the light spreads uniquely across the horizon, it is a joyful time to join the heavens declaring His glory.
Typically, the Lord fills my mind with a song or a verse to begin the worship time. But, this particular morning, the flow of adoration and praise was blocked. Frustrated, I continued the walk with a heart ready to listen, but that too was interrupted with the to-do-list for the day.
I realized quickly that I was worried. My earthy concerns drowned out my tongue of praise. The Spirit spoke to me in that still small voice from the Word; “the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19) I was abandoning my trust in my Father for all my needs.
So, I confessed my sin, and with thanksgiving and praise I presented my requests to God in prayer. He was faithful! A peace fell upon me that morning and resided all day in my heart and mind as I continued to live as carefree as the birds of the air.
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, I trust You for my daily bread. I trust that You will supply all the resources needed to do the work You have prepared for me. I trust that You will strengthen the relationships in my life. I trust that in the valley and by the quiet waters You will lead and guide me for Your name’s sake. When worry overwhelms me, I choose to extol the LORD at all times. When anxious thoughts creep into the day, let Your praise always be on my lips. To the glory of the Lord! Amen
