A Satisfied Soul

“The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:11

On a cold winter morning in the soft light of my glimmering Christmas tree, I joined with the Psalm of David saying, “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1

In this season of Advent and longing, we realize that we do live in a desert of sorts.

In the midst of our cultural desert we long to be filled with the true joy of the season.  We hope that this year will meet all our expectations.

It is all good of course, but these only bring temporal satisfaction.  Comfort and living water come to those who are thirsty.  We find perfect peace, joy, hope, and love in the sanctuary Presence of our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  Praise be to the One whose “love is better than life!”  Psalm 63:3; Isaiah 9:6
