May True Worship Revive Me

Read Revelation 19:1-10

“After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: ‘Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.’” Revelation 19:1 In fact, four times within just eight short verses the words ‘Hallelujah’ leap off the pages of Scripture.  But that is not all, “Again and again their voices rang, ‘Hallelujah!’” Revelation 19:3.

In this heavenly scene the chorus of praise sung to our God is deafening, yet majestic!  The heavenly servants recognize a Holy God that deserves all glory and all honor, and they are acting in accordance. His very presence demands worship.

Do you long for a glimpse? Do you wish to take part?

My head tells me to “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Does my heart get it?  Does the knowledge of God’s very presence in my day to day walk transform my daily living into an act of worship, an aroma pleasing to my God?

First Corinthians 6:19 explains that our very own body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Each Christian is a sacred place where God dwells. I am in the presence of the Maker of heaven and earth, the Savior of the world at every step of my journey. “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).

Yet my worship is often times lacking great joy. I confess stumbling into church because it’s the acceptable thing to do.  I confess that my work is out of drudgery and not as if I am doing it for the Lord.  I confess my lack of reverent worship of the King.  I confess…

Prayer: Search my heart, O God!  I have not always been obedient, and my sins separate me from true worship.  Give me an undivided, pure heart, O God.  May I have no other gods before you; I give You, Father God, first place in my life.  Stir within me, my family, my church, my community, and my school a new obedience and a new enthusiasm for the things of God.  May our worship be the appropriate response to God’s eternal presence in our lives.  May the church worship God with thundering joy! May we be a church waiting for You!  In Jesus Name Amen
