Are You Ready for the Feast?

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12

“Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.” Romans 13:14

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14

Read Matthew 22:1-14

In Matthew 22:1-14, Jesus tells the parable of the wedding banquet, which pictures some pretty fierce judgments to those who do not revere and honor the king as he deserves. He puts to death those who scorned the king’s invitation to the feast and murdered his servants. The guests who were in the banquet hall without the proper wedding attire were tied up and thrown out into the darkness. Neither of these groups of people were ready for the feast, and the king dealt with them justly.

We have been invited to a wedding banquet also. We find our invitation in John 3:16; “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

How are you treating the invitation to the wedding feast? Do you keep saying ‘no,’ because you are tied to the desires of the flesh? Do you seemingly do the right thing and accept the invitation, but forget to daily put on the righteous, holy clothing offered to you in Christ Jesus? Are you forgetting that as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, we must look different than the world’s false values and idolatry? Are you prepared, watching and praying?

The last hour is upon us (1 John 3:18), and it’s time for the bride of Christ to get ready, because without holiness no one will see the Lord!

Prayer: Father God, we pray that You find us faithful in this last hour; “for our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear” (Revelation 19:6-8). We humbly accept Your salvation and righteousness.

In Jesus name, Amen
