Our Great Provider

“…He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things…that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.” Acts 17:25, 27
God is the provider of all good things, including life and breath. If God wills, each new day we are blessed with another day to learn, feel, see, hear, breathe, touch, taste, and experience an abundant life.
Just as God spared Abraham’s son, Isaac, and provided a ram to sacrifice instead, Abraham named the place, “The Lord will provide” as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” (Genesis 22:14) God has and always will be Jehovah-jireh, our provider.
In this passage from Acts 17, Paul says the natural response to God’s provision is to seek Him. Also in 2 Chronicles 7:14, God commands us to seek Him by saying, “Seek my face.” In Acts 17:27, Paul continues with a description of believers who might “grope for Him and find Him.” Grope means to feel or search blindly…perhaps groping is necessary when we are in times of desperation and need.
And lastly, Paul assures us God is not far from each one of us. I can certainly recount times in my life when God seemed far away, but I am thankful for a constant reminder from His word that He is never far away.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for being my ultimate provider, Jehovah-jireh! Provision from You is far greater than anything this world can provide. Fill my days with the desire to seek Your face. Let me truly find You in every moment and situation of each day. Thank you, Lord, for staying close to me!
